System.Transactions and VB

I will be speaking again on System.Transactions November 1, 2006 for AZGroups.

What is special about THIS presentation is that I will be revealing a Virtual Resource Manager completely written in VB.NET.  While the iDesign C# code now available from MSDN is great (as well as the basis of mine...) It is not available in Visual Basic.

Yes, you can always just use it, but that doesn't let you dig into how it works, or why it is important unless you want to do it in C#.  This can offer some insight, but reading the source in VB.NET offers more real insights into how transactional collections can benefit your code in very real ways.

This is a talk revealing to you how you can and should make transactions a part of every program you write today.  a VRM allows virtually anything to become transactional and could care less about the DTC or Databases.

As an ASP.NET developer, why should I send a page of rollback information back to the client if a transaction aborts... with a VRM you don't, you just ignore the information since nothing changed (while informing the client the operation failed...).

I agree completely with Juval Lowy when he says: As we move to a more Service Oriented world, “Transactions are the ONLY VIABLE PROGRAMMING MODEL.”

Krugle This...

Krugle is a search engine for Source Code, this is seriously cool stuff and frequently a real timesaver hunting down some obscure algorithm I need.  The Overview really makes it clear how good this engine can be.

Just about any language is supported as a search criteria, and the VB.NET Code I have searched for is pretty good stuff!
